1914: Enlisted September at Tadcaster into Northumberland Fusiliers 17/577, being employeed by the North eastern Railway Company at Tadcaster Station.

1915: Married Bertha Ann Williams West Hartleppol Vol 10a Page 282.

​

1916: Landed France August.

​

1917: Reported that Harold was killed when a shell burst over the trench and suffered severe wounds to the head.

​

1915: Enlisted Leeds 15th December 17th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment 17/357 Residence Dawsons Yard Occupation Hall Boy.

 

1916: Landed France 30th January.

 

1916: Received Gun shot to the wound right leg.

 

1918: Transferred to 2/4th Bn York and Lancs 11th August.

 

1918: William Passed away in L Ward at No 3 Base Hospital France from Influenza Bronchial Pneumonia (Spanish Flu) Contracted in the Field.

 

1918: Miss Mabel Gray Williams Williams Fiancee Residing at the George and Dragon Hotel High Street Tadcaster collected Williams personal effects on the 14th November.

1920: Mabel Married James C Hill at Tadcaster in 1920.

​

1921: Williams War Medal was sent to Mabel on the 20th December.

1897: Born Bolton Percy Vol 9c Page 936 Son of Walter Born 1857 and Florence Ann Ellen Olive Born 1858 Died 1932 Married Sussex 26th October 1897.

1897: Baptised 11th February Bolton Percy.

 

1911: Residence Westgate Tadcaster Occupation Brewers Office Boy (Shown as Jack).

​

1917: Enlisted 29th May Occupation Brewers Clerk.

 

1917: Landed France 29th June.

 

1918: Invalided Home 24th January and sent to Bermondsey Military Hospital London.

​

1918: Doctor treating John wrote: "Began with a slight Haemoptysis in April 1916. Was ill three to four months, made a good recovery and was strong when called up. Present attack December 1917 coming on gradually with weakness and a cough. Extremely emaciated best weight 8 stone 10 ounce. Currently 8 stone with clothes on."

 

1918: John passed away from Pulmonary Tuberculoses of the Left Lung.

Photo of Brother Harry who served in the Royal Army Medical Corps Service Number 63256. Harry Enlisted in 1915 being described as being 6 feet 1 inches tall spending 99 days in Italy before being posted to france. In 1918 Harry suffered from Trench fever and when discharged in march 1919 was shown as 20 per cent fit being able to claim a pension after the war.

1899: Born Hillam Near South Milford Vol 9c Page 107 Son of George and Margaret Wilson Married 1897.

1911: Residence No 24 Westfield Terrace Wetherby Road Tadcaster at School.

 

1917: Enlisted Harrogate 17th May George Lied about his age the legal age to enlist was 19 George was Aged 18 years and Month old    Residence same as in 1911, Occupation Clerk. Described as being  5ft 6 1/2 Inch tall.

 

1918:  George was Laid to Rest alongside 59 other men from the West Yorkshire Regiment at Cuitron British Cememtery Marfaux which was in the in the middle of a cornfield and was made by the 62nd Division Burial Officer. 

​

1923: George alongside his pals was moved to his final resting place at Marfaux British Cemetery.

1916: Passed Away at Sea on a Hospital Ship from Malaria. (More than 3 in 1 men died in Salonika from Malaria or the Influenza Flu that swept that region the forgotten war zone which took as many lives as the western Front.)

1901: Residence in Newton Kyme Occupation Cattleman on a local farm living next door to Leonard Harland who gave his life in November 1919 in India. (Leonard is remembered on the Church Fenton Memorial) and Fred Barrs who fought in WW2 serving for the Australian Imperial Force.

1908: Married Mary Anne Hobson Great Ouseburn Vol 9a Page 152a.

​

1911: Residence Sandburn Stockton on the Foerset Near York Occupation Farm Labourer.

1911: Passing of Father Grafton.

1914: Occupation Stoker at the Tadcaster Gas Company

 

1916: Enlisted 02nd November Tadcaster Occupation in the Tadcaster Gas Company.

 

1917: Landed France February.

 

1917: Posted to 10th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment 7981 03rd March.

 

1917: Wounded 08th September and sent to 19th Casualty Clearance Station Near Arras France.

 

1918: Posted to the Machine Gun Corps 28th March.

 

1919: Returned England February and was ill under the supervision of Dr Glover in Tadcaster.

​

1919: Tom passed away from Heart related problems at Spring Hill Tadcaster Vol 90c Page 784.

 

Toms Brothers Arthur September 1917 and George September 1918 also gave their lives in WW1 and are remembered on the Newton Kyme Page on this site.

1902: Issued Kings South Africa Medal 01st January and Clasps for Belmont, Moder River, Dreifontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill and Belfast.

1909: Left the Army in the September.

1914: Landed Le Harve France 23rd August.

 

1914: Robert fought at the Battles of Le Cateau, Marne, Aisnes and Messines.

​

1915: Fought in the Second Battle of Ypres.

​

1916: Fought at the Battle of the Somme 01st July.

 

1916: I believe Robert lost his life as part of a working party on Pioneer Road near the Schwaben Redoubt CLICK HERE The War Diary for the Rifle Brigade on the 19th October details one other rank being killed and 8 wounded.

​
