1915: Reported in a letter from Captain G Sowerby that Horace was Killed by an hand grenade around 17.30 hours alongside three others whilst having tea he was laid to rest behind the trenches a cross being erected.

In a letter to Mr and Mrs Bradley Captain G. Sowerby says:" It is with the greatest regret that i have to inform you that your son H.F Bradley, was killed by a hand grenade in the trenches on the 21st about 5.30 pm He was buried the same night behind the trenches, a cross being erected.
The service was conducted by Colonal Ward. He was at tea with 3 comrades when the grenade burst over them.
​
He was an accomplished musician and played the piccalo, and two years ago played in the band of the 5th West Yorks Your son was a most excellent soldier and was always out at once to help any other poor fellow who needed his services as a stretcher bearer and i am most sorry to lose him.

"Of the three brothers Bradley, sons of Mr J. F. Bradley, brewers traveller, originally in the army, one has been killed. Private Harold Bradley, of the West Yorkshires, has been twice wounded, he joined in the first month of the war.
​
Corporal John William Bradley, also of the West Yorkshires has been a soldier since 1911, and was an electrician by profession. The men of the company were complimented for the good work they did during the big gas attack last December."

BROADWITH Edgar Athlene
Acting Corparal 17186 9th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment KIA 27/09/1918 Aged 39.
Born Wath Upon Dearne. Enlisted York. Resident Sherburn in Elmet. Son of Tristram Born Malmerby Ripon 1842 and Mary Ann Gatenby Born Wath 1845 Married at Wath Upon Dearne in 1869.
1879: Born Wath Upon Dearne.

1891: Edgar was working as a servant.
1901: Edgar was in South Africa fighting in the Boar War.
​
1903: 17th October fined 20 Shillings ordered too pay costs for assaulting Walter Sunley on Tadcaster bridge causing a black eye and broken nose, no reason was given for the assault and it was mentioned bu PC Walker that that Edgar had been fined three months earlier for carrying out a similar attack.
​
1904: Married Mary Kavanagh in Tadcaster. Mary was Born in Brimmington Derbyshire 1892, (she was the sister of John Kavanagh remembered on the Tadcaster Memorial.)
1908: Birth of Daughter Lillian Eveline.

1918: Landed at the Balkans 24th September.
On the 27th September the Canadians spearheaded an attack on the Canal Du Nord, heavy artillery supported the Canadians with the British attacking the Germans on a 20 km front, Edger along with the 9th West Yorkshire Battalion was part of this offensive Edgar lost his life on the opening day of the offensive which was called off on the 1st October.

1913: Fined 1 shilling at court alongside 10 other local youths for causing damage by making a cricket field on a meadow in the Ings.

1914: Landed France 10th October Albert was one of the first men from Tadcaster to go to war and was part of the Old Contemptible's
the British Expeditionary Force that went to France.
​
1916: Reported in Skyrack Courier that Albert was wounded in the Arm Back and Right Leg. Register of Soldiers effects states passed away on No 19 Ambulance train.

1901: Enlisted York 3rd January West Yorkshire Regiment Aged 18 year 2 months described as being 5 feet 5 3/4 inches tall Australian Service records 1916 state Served in the Kings Own Shropshire Battalion seeing service in India and South Africa in the Boar War.

1902: Awarded South Africa Medal and Clasp for Transvaal and South Africa.
​
1904: Extended service further 8 years.

1906: Promoted to Sergeant.

1909: Married Isabella Matheson in Edinburgh.

1912: Emigrated to Australia settling near Melbourne living at 17 Victoria Street Coburg Victoria Australia.
1916: Enlisted 05th September Aged 33 yrs and 7 months into the 22nd Bn Australian Infantry, at his medical he was described as being of a Fresh Complexion 5ft 7 and 1/2 inches, with Blue Eyes and Brown Hair. William had a tatoo and each forearm, and a scar on his right hand and left knee. William was paid 5 shillings per day 3 of which went to his wife and child.
1916: Left Melbourne for Plymouth on 02nd October on Board HMAT Nestor.
1917: Set sail for France 03rd January aboard HMS Arundel and was billeted to Etaples near Boulogne the area used for training troops.
1917: On the 24th February William joined the front line and was promoted to Lance Corporal at the beginning of March 1917.
1917: William suffered Gun Shot Wounds to his right arm and eft thigh and face on 20yh April. He was evacuated to Norfolk War Hospital Norwich until the 20th May where he reported for training at Perham Downs.
1917: Charged with being AWOL and forfeited two days pay in June, promoted to Serjeant a few days later Gaining the rank of Company Serjeant Major at the beginning of September 1917.
​
1917: On the evening of the 03rd October near Zillebeke one and half miles from Ypres, William was with Company A Platoon No 11 carrying out burial duties for men who had lost their lives that day.
After they had finished they went back to Muhl Trench and William sat down on the step to light up a cigarette it was reported that a shell landed killing William from severe head injuries along with a Lieutenant Norman John Moore of the 23rd Battalion and Eight others instantly. (six men from the 22/23rd Bn Australian Infantry were Laid to Rest at China Wall Cemetery on the 03rd October)
The Australian Red Cross interviewed witnesses at the scene, William was described as being called "Bill" "Dolly" and wore South African King and Queens medals. William had all the papers of the men they had been burying which were reported as being lost.

William was reportedly buried outside of Muhl Trench, and he is recorded as one of the missing on the Menin Gate. However whilst looking through Williams service record a page came to light for the burial party's and Australian Graves Commission giving details that William had been Laid to Rest in Perth China Wall Military Cemetery.
​
1921: Certificate showing authentication of three photos of a Memorial Cross Row M Plot 6 in China Perth Cemetery are recorded, a copy being sent to his wife Isabella.
1921: Isabella received Williams effects after the war a pipe, holdall, and a shaving kit.
