1915: Enlisted York Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry 24140.

1915: Landed Egypt or Gallipoli 03rd December.

​

1916: Battalion evacuated to Egypt from Gallipoli then sailed to Marseilles France Job was then wounded.

​

1916-1917: Transferred to 480 Company Labour Corps Service Number 468000.

​

1917: Birth of Daughter Elsie 22nd December.

 

1918: Job passed away at home from Pneumonia (Spanish Flu) contracted whilst on active duty Vol 9c Page 2276 .

1927: Wife Alice Re married to William Powell in Wetherby.

"Private Job Smith and his brother Private H. G. Smith resided with their parents at Hill Side, and both joined in May 1915.

The first named is in the Lancashire Fusiliers and his brother is in the Royal Garrison Artillery.

Job is now a bomb thrower, and has spent a couple of months in Egypt and about the same time in France, and has been wounded."

Private 24744 10th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment KIA 04/11/1918 Aged 28.

 

1890: Born Headingley Son of William and Florence who Remarried to Henry Gilbert Jackson at Leeds in 1899.

​

1911: Residence belle Vue No 3 Magdalen Road Ripon Occupation Under Brewer living with his mother. 

​

1913: Samual is shown as living on Otley Road Tadcaster his dwelling described as being: Sitting room on ground floor, bedroom on first floor, furnished with board. Landlady was Harriett Ellis.

​

1915-1917: Enlisted Tadcaster.

​

1918: Samuel lost his life 7 days before the end of the War at the Second Battle of Sambre, the final operation in the One Hundred day Offensive, which ultimately led to the end of the war.

​

1918: Samuel was Laid to Rest at Les Tuileries British Cemetery Map Referance 51.A.X.29.d.3.7 in Grave B15. The cemetery was behind the garden of a house, on the North side of the road to Salesches, at a hamlet called Les Tuileries.

​

1919: Effects of £715.00 to mother Florence Residence shown as No 4  Wharfedale Villas Tadcaster.

​

1923: Samuel was exhumed from his original resting place being identified by the Cross over his Grave his Clothing and Buttons.

​

1915: Landed France 13th July.

 

1916: Injured on the first day of the Somme 01st July and sent home. 

​

1917: Joseph was laid to rest next to three others from the 11th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment in the area around Zillebeke Map Reference 177.365E & 364E.

​

1919: Family Residence Railway Cottages Stutton.

​

1922: Joseph was exhumed and Laid to Rest at Hooge Crater Cemetery.

Stoker 1st Class K/11446 Royal Navy H.M.S.Hogue KIA 22/09/1914 Aged 29.

 

1894: Born Tadcaster 23rd December Son of George Born Tockwith 1868 a gamekeeper on Smaws Farm and Lucy Ann Steele Bilbrough Born Tadcaster 1869 they Married Tadcaster 1889.

​

1906: Enlisted Royal Navy 22nd August Occupation Maltster at brewery. Described as being 5 feet 6 3/4 Inches Tall Brown Hair Grey Eyes.

​

1909-1911: Served on Board H.M.S Hampshire.

​

1911: Residence on board H.M.S Hampshire in Portsmouth 02nd April.

​

1914: Wilson lost his life around 07.00 am when Submarine U9 fired two torpedoes into the side of H.M.S Hogue from a range of only 300 yards. Three ships H.M.S Aboukir, H.M.S Cressy and H.M.S Hogue were lost that day with the loss of 1,459 men.

1892: Born York Vol 9d Page 32  Son of William Born Brighouse 1858 and Agnes Ann Thompson Born Barnsley 1860. Married Doncaster 1885.

1911: Residence Ivyholme Tadcaster Occupation Brewers Chemist.

​

1915: Gained his commission in the July after training with Leeds University Officer Training Corps

​

1917: Frank was wounded in the chest by shrapnel.

​

1918: Will effects of £4,750 and 50 shillings left to his father.

 

​

Frank was educated at Giggleswick School and Captain of cricket and football teams. Prior to the war, he assisted in the commercial management of the brewery, and was a director of the company. Previously wounded in action."

​

1917: Landed France 15th June.

​
